Answer: Yes, all referrals should be made to Westminster House via your social care worker. If you fund your own care then please contact the First Response team on 01983 814980.

Question: I self fund my own care, do I require a referral?
Answer: Yes, all Service Users will still follow our referral and Assessment procedure. A financial assessment will be carried out to determine whether you will fund or not.

Answer: It is advisable to bring your own spending monies with you for you to participate in outings and other social and leisure activities although this is not essential.

Answer: Yes of course. Prior to using Westminster House a full assessment will take place where such information is gathered. This information is then passed on to our cooks to ensure that appropriate foods and drinks are available during a stay or visit.

Question: Is Westminster House open all year round?
Answer: Westminster House is a 24 hour service and the only time it is closed is from Christmas Eve until 2nd January or in the unfortunate event of a medical outbreak which requires the closure of the premises as part of infection control.

Answer: No, not from our staff team. If an individual has been assessed as requiring 1:1 support or their needs have changed then additional support will need to be identified, though service users will still be able to use Westminster House as a base utilising their additional support.

Question: Is Westminster House a care home?
Answer: No, Westminster House is a Respite or Short Term Resource Centre. Westminster House does not provide medical support nor does it arrange or attend appointments with individuals. This is the responsibility of the individual, Next of Kin, Carer, Advocate etc. to organise.

Answer: No, we ask that all transport arrangements are made prior to bookings either via Parents/Carers, Taxi service or other transport. Westminster House provides a minibus service whilst using its services of which is incorporated within the costs.

Question: When can I come and visit to take a look around Westminster House?
Answer: Anytime that is convenient to the individual. It is appreciated that service users, their parents and/or carers have other commitments and work arrangements, so with that in mind visiting can take place simply by calling to make an appointment with the duty officer or the Manager.
