Question: I breed dogs. Do I need a licence?

Answer: If the main purpose for breeding is for showing, you will not need a licence.
If you have more than 5 breeding bitches, you will require a licence under the Breeding of Dogs Acts 1973 and 1991.
If you have less than 5 breeding bitches but are still breeding for sale, you may require a licence.

However, if you are in any doubt you should contact the Licensing Section on 01983 823159 to clarify whether you need a licence.
