Safeguarding Adults for Provider Services Managers

Target Group:

Those who work in a managerial or senior capacity in a CQC registered health or social care provider setting (e.g. residential homes, domiciliary care, reablement etc).



Course Aims:

Please note this is not a basic awareness course and those attending should already have good working knowledge around safeguarding adults. If you are new to the subject, you may find this course more appropriate - Safeguarding Adults for the Frontline Workforce

To ensure those attending are able to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities appropriately and effectively for roles which fall under the ‘Responders’ category as per ‘IOWSAB Workforce Development Policy (Oct 2024)



Intended Impact:

By the end of the course, attendees will:

Understand their role and responsibilities for safeguarding adults, in particular the requirements in regulations 12 and 13 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (regulated activities) Regulations 2014 and the Care Act 2014.
Have refreshed and updated their knowledge of safeguarding legislation including the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, the 6 core principles and local guidance and procedures.

Know how to share and gather information in order to contribute to a safeguarding enquiry.

Have developed skills to communicate with a service user to enable them to express the outcomes they wish to achieve.

Know how to make a safeguarding referral and how to contribute to the safeguarding process.

Appreciate how “Making Safeguarding Personal” should be embedded into all safeguarding activities and responsibilities, including how this relates to mental capacity.

Understand the importance of defensible decisions, recording accurately and being open and honest when things go wrong. (the duty of candour)

Trainer Biography:

A highly experienced, qualified, freelance trainer who has been delivering a diverse portfolio of mandatory, accredited and non-accredited core skills training to the Social Care and Local Authority sectors for 12 years. She has a substantial core network of clients from both Public and Private Care organizations where she has delivered topics including Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, 1st Aid, Mental Capacity Act and Record Keeping. As well as being a qualified PTLLS trainer, Stella has CIEH Level 3 Health & Safety in the Workplace qualification, has the Trusted Assessor qualification and Risk Assessor and Key Trainer in Safe Handling of People and other Loads. Stella's training is always extremely highly evaluated.
