Service Description:
The Record Office holds archives of almost all the boroughs and councils which have run the Isle of Wight over the years. The most important material is for the borough of Newport, although the minutes of the district and county councils cover a huge range of topics from roads, and air raid precautions to smallholdings and seaside entertainment.

Many of these records are held in out stores and it is therefore necessary to contact the Record Office in advance to ensure that the items will be available when you visit.
