Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker with a passion for promoting independence and making a difference in people’s lives? Are you skilled in supervising others and guiding them to deliver high-quality social care? If so, we want you to join our Integrated Localities Team in the North East locality!

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Social Worker to support Island residents in achieving the quality of life they desire, while living independently in the community they call home. As part of our integrated team, co-located with health colleagues, you’ll enjoy the benefits of shared knowledge and collaborative working.

 

About the Role:

As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and supervision of adult social care staff. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supervising and supporting qualified Social Workers.
  • Quality-checking and auditing work completed by your team.
  • Allocating and approving work while providing expert guidance and advice.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and safeguarding practices.

 

You’ll be supported in your role by the Team Manager and be instrumental in providing supervision, leadership, and practice guidance to help your team excel.

 

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone with:
  • Significant experience in social work.
  • Supervisory skills, such as those gained as a Practice Educator or Mentor.
  • A commitment to promoting independence and empowering individuals.

Out of Hours Standby and Call Out. You may be asked to provide support in exceptional circumstances, outside of usual business hours. Unless stated otherwise in the job summary for the role this is not part of the department’s usual standby arrangements.

The Isle of Wight Council is committed to supporting all newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) via a robust post-graduate competency framework, the ‘Assessed and Supported Year of Employment’ (ASYE). The ASYE is intended to be the first stage of continuing professional development for Registered Social Workers. The framework will be closely allied to the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).  You will be therefore, be required to satisfactorily complete the ASYE programme within a 12-month period (or 18 months if part-time).
