We are a children's home and short breaks service for children with disabilities and behaviours that challenge and we are located in Newport, Isle of Wight. As a Shift supervisor you will have the opportunity to have a positive impact and improve the quality of life of our young people. Our young people develop independence through life skills and have fun taking part in activities accessing Legoland, Tapnell Farm, IOW Zoo, Blackgang Chine, Amazon World, Marwell Zoo and much more.
This role is suitable for anyone who has a passion for supporting young people with developing independence and enriching their lives through activities and experiences. We are looking for passionate and proactive Shift supervisor to join our team in the Children’s Home at Beaulieu House. This rewarding role involves supporting children with behaviours that challenge and complex medical needs to achieve their full potential.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with good experience working in health and social care. Either looking for progression or someone with Shift Supervisor experience looking for a new challenge. As a Shift supervisor, you will be leading shifts and support the staff team with the young people. For the role you will need the follow skills:
- Leadership skills
- Organisational skills
- Experience support behaviours that challenge
- Leading with medication rounds
- Able to complete supervision with support workers
- Planning and setting up activities for a wide range of young people
- Being a young person’s key worker, completing and updating care plans and attending meetings and reviews.
- Good communication skills
- Completing reports on young people’s progress
- Supporting our young people with their daily routine, accessing activities, personal care, supporting with medical needs, developing new skills and most importantly ‘having fun’.
- Using your passion and being proactive in sharing your ideas to improve the quality of life of our young people.
- Providing a ‘home away from home’ for all our young people, following our mission’s statement which is ‘We nurture, care for and safeguard our children while supporting individuality and encouraging adventure’.

Working at Beaulieu House you will be supported to gain the necessary qualifications and skills to be able to succeed in your role. As a Shift Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to complete your level 5 in Leadership and management in Health and Social care. Working within the council will also give you the opportunity to progress further into a career in Social Care. Many of our team have progressed into Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, and Social Worker roles.
The Service is open 52 weeks of the year, we work to a responsive rota which provides staff with 6 weeks rota at a time. The successful candidates will be working a mixture of earlies, lates, and weekend shifts. As a Shift supervisor, you will also have stand-by shifts.
Our shifts patterns are 07:00 – 14:30 and 14:15 – 22:00.
