Do want to make a difference to housing on the Island?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated officer to join our caring, dynamic, and knowledgeable housing team.

This role is integral to ensuring the council meets its duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 (HRA) and you will preferably have proven experience and knowledge of welfare rights and associated legislation.

While previous knowledge and experience in housing would be advantageous, we will accept transferable skills from the following areas.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, forward-facing role
  • Experience of meeting deadlines and / or targets
  • Experience of working proactively and independently
  • Sound ICT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to engage with people in a professional and confident manner
  • Our team is passionate, adaptive and supportive as a team and in assisting homeless households, and we seek a likeminded individual.

The salary for this role ranges from Grade 4 to Grade 6, and the starting salary will be determined by the knowledge, skills and experience of the successful candidate.  Salary increases within this grade range will be based on progression and achievements.

As you progress in the role, you will develop new knowledge and skills that will help you undertake increased responsibilities and before long you’ll be able to have clear and transparent in-depth discussions with homeless households and provide initial advice and options available to them.

PLEASE NOTE: Out of Hours Standby and Call Out

You will be required to take part in the Out of Hours Stand-by Duty Rota as and when requested by management.  Standby and call out duties are paid in accordance with the IWC Terms and Conditions 2012 document.
