Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week

The Council tax team is currently seeking a full-time permanent Trainee Revenues Officer to join their busy team to assist with the billing, collection, and recovery of Council tax.

Main responsibilities will include to train on the following areas of Council tax:

Assessing liability to pay and ensuring customer accounts are accurate and up to date.

Undertake enquiries to identify discounts, exemptions, and relief from Council tax.

Advising inspectors on empty properties or change of use.

Maintain up to date Council tax and Business rates accounts.

Monitoring and processing payments.

Collecting and enforcing payments through courts and other powers of collection.

Signposting customers to other services and departments.

Dealing with incoming and outgoing calls from customers.

An eye for detail will be essential and the successful candidate will have:

Excellent word processing and numeracy skills.

Strong verbal communication skills – able to liaise at all levels.

Demonstrable team working skills.

A good eye for detail and a meticulous approach to workloads.

The ability to work to strict deadlines in a performance driven environment. 

As part of the role, you will be working towards the Level 4 Revenues and Benefits Apprenticeship NVQ.
