Hours: 37 per week

Market Supplement: £3,000 (Pro-Rata)

We are looking for a prosecutor to join the Isle of Wight Council to have conduct of the council’s criminal litigation which will include regulatory advice (including licensing, trading standards, and environmental health) and case management of matters falling to the Coroner’s Court. The caseload will include advice to internal departments and advocacy on behalf of the council.  The post will sit within the council’s Litigation Legal Team. The successful candidate will be able to handle a busy caseload with minimal supervision working with the support of a close-knit team. You will be a qualified Chartered Legal Executive, Solicitor, or Barrister. 

 

Knowledge of criminal litigation procedure is essential as the post holder should be able to provide immediate effective criminal support. Previous local authority experience would be an advantage, as would experience of dealing with regulatory matters.

Relocation: For some vacancies (subject to criteria) a relocation scheme of up to £8,000 may be available if you are specifically relocating to the Isle of Wight to work with us, or if you choose to commute to the Isle of Wight daily, you may be eligible to have some travel costs reimbursed.
