Hours: 40 per week (Job share – 20 hours per week)

East Cowes Town Council is an active, community minded council, at the forefront of developing quality services for local people. The Council are looking for highly motivated and forward-thinking individuals with a ‘can do’ attitude, who can demonstrate strong governance, financial management and effective leadership skills. As Deputy Clerk/RFO, you will be key to the effective operation of the Council, drafting agendas, minutes, and other papers for Council meetings, providing impartial and professional advice on Council business, and delivering all other administrative support. You will assist in managing the finances and assets of the Council, including preparing the annual review of the budget and precept, monitoring expenditure, dealing with income and receipts, producing quarterly financial reports, and supporting the annual audit process.

 

Applicants will need to have a positive attitude and be able to communicate effectively at all levels. The ability to inspire, motivate and develop excellent working relationships with both staff and councillors is essential.

 

You will ideally be CiLCA qualified, but the council may consider applicants with experience in a similar role, who are currently studying for CiLCA, and commit to gaining the qualification within 6 months of appointment.

 

This post is offered on a job share basis and the successful applicants must be willing to work 20 hours per week over a range of morning and afternoon shifts. The postholders will need to be flexible in their approach and be available for evening meetings and some out of hours duties when council events are taking place. This post is office based, in a modern, public facing centre.
