The Schools Speech and Language Support Team adopts a highly collaborative and responsive approach to our work in schools, which enables us to offer a unique and effective service which is valued by our education settings.

This is a permanent position with the Isle of Wight School’s Speech and Language Support Service, working with senior therapists, a specialist teacher advisor, speech and language therapists and assistants within Island schools and settings to meet the SLCN (including severe and complex communication needs) of children and young people. The successful applicant will work under the guidance of speech and language therapists and a specialist teacher advisor. The post would suit someone with a wide range of experience of working in education settings, across a range of key stages and who has undertaken additional specialist training related to supporting students with speech, language and communication needs.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to fulfil a role with many different elements to it, where no two days are ever the same. The successful applicant will deliver intervention for individual and group sessions for children and young people with SLCN alongside preparing and maintaining resources and materials for use in schools, settings and home. An important part of the role is to undertake modelling for staff in schools and settings to support them in running groups and individual programmes of work. Collaborative team working is an important element of our work and this results in fantastic partnerships with families, school staff and other professionals involved.

You will receive regular supervision and support from highly skilled, trained and experienced speech and language therapists and there will be regular opportunities for training and continuing professional development.

The successful applicant will be working as part of an innovative, dynamic and highly supportive team, that is driven to ensure more positive outcomes for children, young people, schools and families on the Isle of Wight.
