We are seeking an HLTA (or coach with equivalent experience) to provide quality sports lessons delivering the physical education curriculum across the whole school. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an encouraging, enthusiastic, and supportive approach and have experience of working with primary aged children.

 

The successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team, be highly effective in planning, delivery, evaluating lessons and achieving the best outcomes for children. We offer a supportive and engaging teaching environment, enthusiastic children, colleagues who enjoy learning together, and opportunities for professional development and progression.

 

We are looking for an HLTA (or coach with relevant experience) who:

- Ensures safeguarding best practice.

- Is motivated and determined to secure the best possible outcomes for all children.

- Has excellent communication skills leading to effective relationships with pupils, parents and other staff.

- Has the ability to provide rich and creative learning experiences.

- Has personal philosophy which supports the values of the school.

- An HLTA qualification or equivalent coaching qualifications

- Has experience working with children in key stages 1 and 2.

- Has high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour

- Is proactive in arranging sporting events and fixtures.

This role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. The employer will be the Isle of Wight Council and employment is on Isle of Wight terms and conditions. Hampshire County Council has delivered, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will continue to do so until 2023. The original five-year partnership arrangement under direction of the Secretary of State finished in 2018 but has been extended voluntarily by both local authorities for a further five years.

 

The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
