Isle of Wight Council are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic person to take on the role of Safeguarding Adults Board Manager. As Board Manager the person will be responsible for   driving forward the incredibly important work of the Isle of Wight Safeguarding Adults Board.

This is a permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week). In line with the Councils policies the role does enable agile working but will require the successful candidate to be available to regularly attend face to face meeting at the councils’ offices at County Hall in Newport and to occasionally travel for other meetings. The role is one that could potentially accommodate remote working so long as the face-to-face meeting requirements could be accommodated.

The Board Manager is directly employed by Isle of Wight Council; however, the role has a high level of autonomy with the Board Manager largely working on behalf of the Safeguarding Adults Board and the Independent Chairperson. 

The Isle of Wight Safeguarding Adults Board is a well-established, effective multi-agency partnership, and requires a proactive, dynamic, and dedicated individual to ensure the work of the Board is managed effectively. The Board has a number of statutory duties, and it is essential that the Board Manager is familiar with these and support the Board to ensure that they are met. The successful candidate must have experience of:

• Working within a multi-agency setting

• A good knowledge of Safeguarding legislation and process

• Setting and delivering priorities within a business planning framework

• Effective partnership working

• Communicating with a range of stakeholders

• Management of several workstreams at the same time

• Effective prioritisation of tasks and competing deadlines

 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Boards Independent Chairperson and will provide strategic leadership for the Board’s three sub-groups:

• Safeguarding Adult Reviews Sub-group

• Quality Assurance and Performance Sub-group

• Workforce Development Sub-group

This exciting role will also include management of the Board’s Independent Website and social media, developing training programmes and resources, and collaborating with colleagues across Southampton, Hampshire and Portsmouth on policies and events.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working within an Adult Social Care /Police /Health /Housing environment (or similar) and be educated to at least degree level or equivalent. They must have the ability to deal with complex, sensitive, and highly confidential information be an excellent communicator and be able to demonstrate real drive and commitment.

PLEASE NOTE: Out of Hours Standby and Call Out

You will be required to take part in the Out of Hours Stand-by Duty Rota as and when requested by management.  Standby and call out duties are paid in accordance with the IWC Terms and Conditions 2012 document.
