We are looking for Approved Mental Health Professionals who are approved by a Local Authority or willing to work to be approved by the Isle of Wight Council to support the AMHP Service.

On the Island we are small service, but one that continues to increase in the demand for Mental Health Act assessments.

If you meet the above criteria, then we would like you to work on the casual bank list. This post is zero hours and is convenient for AMHPs who work for another Authority but would like some experience working on an island; and for AMHPs that have not practiced for a while but would be willing to undertake the training to become approved by the Isle of Wight Council.

The ethos of the post is to call upon you to cover AMHP shifts in case of vacancies or sickness. These shifts will cover 24 hrs so may be evening shifts or weekends during the day.
We will provide you with a good induction to the systems and resources of the island before you will be expected to work on your own. During these times you will have access to an AMHP manager to discuss any areas of practice concerns.

Post incentives:

• Casual contract via recruitment process 

• Mainland AMHPs to receive travel expenses to the Island

• Standby fee of £85.00 for every shift, regardless of whether any callout occurs

• Any work done when called out is paid at the rate of £22.27 per hour (Grade 11c, currently under review)

The ASYE is intended to be the first stage of the continuing professional development for Registered Social Workers, and the framework will be closely allied to the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).  You will be therefore, be required to satisfactorily complete the ASYE programme within a 12-month period (or 18 months if part time).
