Appeals

Any dissatisfaction expressed as a result of a subject access request will be dealt with as an internal appeal under the Isle of Wight councils Data Protection Policy

All internal appeals will be dealt with by the corporate information unit (CIU). CIU can be contacted at Legal Services, County Hall, Newport, IOW, PO301UD.

You can request an internal appeal by completing the online form “Access to information request appeal form”.

We will contact relevant colleagues and review/consider whether your initial request was dealt with correctly under data protection legislation. The council will aim to complete the appeal within 20 working days and provide a full response.

Following the internal appeal/review, if you still remain dissatisfied, you can seek an independent review from the information commissioner who oversees compliance and promotes good practice. Requests for a review by the information commissioner should be made in writing by the applicant directly to the information commissioner, Wycliffe House Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, by telephone on 01625545700 or by their website www.ico.org.uk.
