An introduction to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)

Target Group:

This training is for anyone that works or volunteers with children.



Course Aims:

Increase awareness of the LADO role and function.

Improve understanding of those working with children of their role and responsibilities when it comes to allegation management.



Intended Impact:

As a result of attending this course, participants will be able to:

•Recognise a potential allegation

•Respond appropriately and know where to seek and receive support.



Prerequisites:

• Know who the LADO is, the role of the LADO, how and when to make a referral

• Identify when you / your setting might have contact with the LADO

• Be clear on your duty to report and record allegations of harm

• Understand what a low -level concern is, and how to respond.


• Know the LADO thresholds (distinction between harm and significant harm) and possible outcomes.
