MiDAS - Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme

« Back

Target Group:

Anyone who drives a Council minibus, predominantly schools staff. This is an essential requirement for obtaining a CVDA to drive council minibuses.

Course Aims:

MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA), which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses.

The way MiDAS is run has changed, the classroom session has moved to online training, but the practical driving assessment will still take place as before.

To access the online training, please email fleet@iow.gov.uk with the name and email address of anyone that wants to complete the training. Once this is received, we will allocate learning passes to each person. An email will be sent to the email address(es) provided with a link to the online training portal and log in details, unique to each person.

Once you have completed the online training, including the theory assessment, the MiDAS assessor will receive an automatically generated email to let them know that you are ready to book your driving assessment, they will be in touch to arrange this with you.

You will need to provide your own mini bus for the driving assessments.

Once you have completed your online training and driving assessment, a certificate will be issued via the online portal.

Prerequisites:

Before the driving assessment can be completed, a licence check needs to be completed, please send a copy of your driving licence number and a licence check code, which can be generated by the link below, to Fleet (fleet@iow.gov.uk):
