Answer: Hairdressers only require a licence if they are going to carry out other activities (such as ear-piercing).

Answer: To carry out tattooing, the premises needs to be registered, as well as any person carrying out the procedure. The fee for 2004/05 is £132.00 to register the premises, and £15.00 for each person.

Answer: No. However, the Local Authority does not have any power to prosecute the tattooist for this offence and the matter should be reported to the Police.
