Appeals

Any dissatisfaction expressed as a result of a request for information will be dealt with as an internal appeal under the Isle of Wight council’s Access to information policy. Click here to view the policy.

All internal appeals will be dealt with by the Corporate Information Unit (CIU). CIU can be contacted at: Legal Services, County hall, Newport, IOW, PO301UD.

You can can request an internal appeal by completing the online form "Access to Information - FOI Appeal". The form can be found in the 'do it online' tab above.

We will contact relevant colleagues and review/consider whether your initial Freedom of Information request was dealt with correctly under the Freedom of Information Act. The council will aim to complete the appeal within 20 working days and provide a full response.

Following the internal appeal/review, if you still remain dissatisfied, you can seek an independent review from the Information Commissioner who oversees compliance and promotes good practice. Requests for a review by the Information Commissioner should be made in writing by the applicant directly to the Information Commissioner, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, Telephone: 01625 545 700 or Fax: 01625 545 510.
